In addition to house mice, packrats, and deer mice, roof rats have invaded the Valley. They are especially fond of living in citrus trees and are notoriously difficult to control. Russell Pest Control is committed to total management of rodent infestations. We have the tools and equipment to manage rodent infestations.

Russell Pest Control uses a three step process to rid your home of mice and other rodents:

Step 1:  Trapping

Use of cages to capture rodents live vs. using or dangerous chemicals and snap traps.

Step 2: Clean- up

Removal of all nesting debris in yards and attics.  Disinfect with anti bacterial solution.

Step 3: Prevention

Finally we screen roof vents and add bait stations to prevent future infestations.

Causes of Rodent infestations

Rodents can be found anywhere there is a potential food source for them. For Valley citrus tree owners, the cause is hanging from their favorite orange tree. For pet owners, the source is in their pet’s food or water dish. Any source of food or water can bring on a rodent infestation. These include unsecured garbage, gardens, bird feeders, compost piles, and more. They are particularly fond of unscreened roof vents or other openings where they can hide and make their nests. A garage which is cracked open just a tiny bit is an open invitation for these tenacious creatures to seek shelter and breed within.

Controlling and treating Rodent infestations

Rodent infestations require a multi-pronged approach, such as that we have already outlined above. We also ask the homeowner to take preventative measures such as repairing foundation cracks, cleaning up citrus fruit as soon as it falls, keeping the garage door closed, securing trash, and storing pet food in tightly-sealed containers. In addition to carrying fleas and diseases, rodents can be extremely destructive, as they are desperate to gnaw on almost anything.

Indoor rodent infestations require meticulous housekeeping practices, tightly-sealed food storage, frequent trash removal, and plumbing repair if leaks are present.
