SCORPION PEST CONTROL SERVICES
Scorpions come in several varieties, but the most notable is the bark scorpion, which ranges from a pale yellow to a deep tan color. At birth, scorpions live on their mother’s back until they’re old enough to fend for themselves. The sight of a mother scorpion with a dozen or more babies on her back can be an unnerving experience. The bark scorpion attacks by stabbing repeatedly, and because they can climb and hang upside down, their resting places are almost limitless.
What are the most common Scorpion types in AZ?
While there are dozens of types of scorpions in Arizona, the bark scorpion is the most worrisome, as it is the most dangerous. It has a thin shape and long, elegant pincers. The stripe-tailed scorpion is the most prevalent species, and giant, or desert hairy scorpion, is also common.
Scorpions can live much longer without food than they can without water. They love damp areas, and can be found indoors beneath a wet towel, under sinks, in showers, bathtubs and toilets. Contrary to a common fear, a scorpion in the bottom of a toilet bowl is not likely to swim up, crawl up the bowl and sting you. It’s far more likely that a person will be stung because they are hidden beneath the seat.

In the outdoors, look before you sit down or pick up anything that could have a scorpion beneath it. Favorite hiding places outdoors are beneath rocks and logs, in trees, and around faucets and other sources of water. Because scorpions are nocturnal and experts at hiding, the easiest way to find them is by searching with a blacklight. Under a blacklight, scorpions will glow and can be found easily.
